DNA: NOT THE USUAL WILDLIFE PHOTO EXHIBITION
“Designed by Nature – captured by Attie Gerber” is not just another photo exhibition documenting plants and animals. It is a revelation of intricate designs created by the greatest artist of all... nature.
This exhibition is impressionist in every sense of the word. With special macro lenses that are able to capture images five times life-size, details are revealed that the normal eye can’t see. None of the photos on display can be described as documentary because even in the case of large animals the photographer used light, colour, form and texture to venture beyond the boundaries of normal photography.
My role was to explore art that has already been created by nature, and the end result is my impressions of the Creator’s master pieces. Because of its abstractness, the photos are especially suited for minimalist interior designs. The technical quality is high enough for large prints or canvasses and even murals.
Danie van der Walt, executive producer of 50/50 for more than 25 years, opened the exhibition on 9 September 2014. We started 50/50 in 1984. The venue was Potchefstroom’s Main Museum on the corner of Sol Plaatje Avenue and Wolmarans Street.
